White House Internships for High School Students

By , About.com Guide

Opportunities for High School Students in The White House:

For high school students, The D.C. Scholars Program is a newly established unpaid, part-time program recently developed by the Obama administration for high school students from public and chartered high schools in the DC area. In this program high school students are given a first-hand look at what it means to do public service and more specifically about what it means to work at the White House.
Student participants not only get the opportunity to work in government at the federal level but also will attend weekly lecture series led by White House staff, be paired with a mentor, work on a summer service project, and meet with college age interns working at the White House. Students must be graduating from a DC public or charter high school in spring of 2010 and must be 17 or 18 to participate in the program.
