Yesterday I wrote about preparing for an interview and ultimately landing the job; so today I'm going to talk about salary negotiations and what it takes to strike the best deal prior to accepting an offer.
After you have spent a great deal of time looking for jobs and preparing for the interview, you may believe that the work is over once you receive an offer for the job. Many new graduates make the mistake of not negotiating salary because they may not think that salary is negotiable; but even as a new graduate from college, you probably possess strong skills that you may be able to leverage in the negotiating process.
Be sure to consider benefits as well as base salary when negotiating and deciding on a job offer; but once you've accepted an employer's offer, it's important to remove yourself from the pool of candidates where you may have already applied for other jobs.
