The North Carolina State Government Internship Program is celebrating its 40th year. The program offers opportunities in a variety of government agencies across the state for undergraduate, graduate and students currently attending law school. This internship program creates a bridge between academic life and the real world. The internship program was designed to teach students about career options and the reality of working in public service.
Internship Description:
Students work full-time (40 hours per week) for a 10-week period over the course of the summer.
Benefits:
Student interns are paid $8.25 per hour. Students get first-hand exposure to working in state government.
Qualifications:
All applicants must meet the following criteria to apply:
- Students must be a permanent resident of North Carolina.
- Students must be currently enrolled at a college/university.
- Students must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Completed high school and subsequently at least the sophomore year of college (or the first year of community college) at the time the internship begins in May,
- Students must not have participated in the State Government Internship Program or an N.C. General Assembly paid internship in the past.
