Career professionals working with college students offer some of their recommendations and favorite places to look for internships. When doing a survey of career professionals from across the country, I found many used similar sites like Indeed.com and SimplyHired.com. Others tended to favor sites that provided internship listings in specific industries such as entertainment or engineering.

By using a combination of some of the well-known general internship sites plus several more specific sites, students will uncover many of the internship opportunities that exist. I suggest that you check with the Career Services Office at your college to see what recommendations they have for finding summer internships.

In addition to internship sites, students should also consider networking with family, friends, faculty, and college alumni to uncover unadvertised opportuntities. Also, prospecting with companies of interest can often uncover additional opportunities for potential internships. Using a series of these strategies will increase your chances of finding a summer internship in the field you're hoping to pursue. But you better hurry, many internship deadlines are coming up soon.
