The ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program (CSJP) provides full-time college students eight-week paid internships and an opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of nonprofit organizations. Each year selected agencies hire interns during the summer hoping to encourage an interest in nonprofit and community service work among students who may be leaning towards becoming community leaders of the future.

"The 75 nonprofit agencies selected for the 2009 ExxonMobil CSJP offer a wide variety of internship opportunities for undergraduate college students, and each promises to add a new and exciting dimension to this program. With a passion for encouraging young people in the nonprofit world, these selected agencies will certainly be invaluable to the interns' professional development and future careers”, said Phyllis Bernstein, chair of the Dallas County Council on Volunteerism.

Each spring students directly contact the nonprofit organizations of their choice to apply for paid summer internships. Each of the participating agencies interview and hire their own interns. Throughout the eight-week program, interns assist with summer projects and participate in professional enhancement workshops.

"Education in the classroom is an important part of learning and development, but through the ExxonMobil CSJP, students are turning those lessons into real world action," said Robert Lanyon, corporate citizenship and community investments manager, ExxonMobil.
