Resume - Online Posting, Emailing, Scanning

Resume format is different for resumes that are posted online or emailed to employers as well as preparing resumes that are to be scanned by employers. Follow these tips when applying for jobs where you post your resume online or are sending it to employers via email or if you think your resume will be scanned.
Preparing Different Versions of the Same Resume
Many resume experts recommend that applicants have four (maybe five) different versions of the same resume prepared; such as: traditional resume, email resume, scannable resume, plain text, or maybe even a HTML resume which can be helpful in specific industries and career fields.
Preparing your Resume for Online Posting or Email
It's important to be prepared to change the formatting of your resume if it is to be posted online or emailed to employers.
Sample Email Resume
To email your resume you will need to create a plain text version to include in the body of your email.
Sample - Scannable Resume
Scannable resumes allow employers to search resumes through "keywords" and "keyword phrases" which helps them to identify qualified applicants.
Resumes Online
The tremendous growth of Internet recruiting has changed the process. Now job seekers need to be prepared to design a resume, send it via email or as an attachment to an email, post it to an employer web site or a resume database, and create a resume for the web.
Posting Your Resume Online
Prior to posting your resume prepare a simple version that is easily transferable to a variety of formats.
Preparing a Scannable Resume
Scanned resumes are typically retrieved using "keywords" and "keyword phrases" typically used in the industry. Scannable resumes provide easy access to skilled employees utilizing abbreviations, titles, skills, honors, etc., included in the resume of qualified applicants.
How to Convert Your Resume to ASCII
Even though it's not very pretty, today's technical employers prefer it, because all computers universally recognize ASCII.
