The Television Academy Foundation Internship Program Offers Unique Opportunities

Gaining Experience in the Field of Entertainment

By , About.com Guide

The Television Academy Foundation's 2012 Student Internship Program offers more than 40 industry wide internships that provides students and new graduates with a host of unique benefits that are not available in other available internships in the entertainment field. For the past decade The Television Academy Foundation’s Internship Program has been recognized as one of the nation’s top 10 internship programs.

UNIQUE BENEFITS:

Intern Networking Mixers

Intern Networking Mixers introduce students to some key experiences that they can only get by being in the field. These mixers provide students with a way to connect with top companies and executives in the industry. The mixers are a great benefit to students and provide them with exposure to what it’s really like working in the field.

Opportunities in New Media: Interactive media is rather new to the scene and is bound to play a dramatic role in the way we all communicate through entertainment in the future. Growing up with technology, today's students are experts in using these social media networks and they have a wealth of information that they can teach more seasoned professionals in the field. Organizations across the board are tapping into this knowledge of the new generation to help them weed through this new way of communicating with the public.

Hear what Sevak Obanian, Post-Production Intern, has to say about his internship, "It is unbelievable how many doors the Academy Foundation’s Internship opened for me. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work on hit television shows alongside the real professionals and to learn the in’s and out’s of the business."

The following is a list of some of the past hosts of the Television Academy’s Internships: Sony Pictures Imageworks, Film Roman, CBS, HBO, The Disney Channel, Discovery Times, Fox TV Studios, E! Entertainment, NBC Universal, Warner Bros., along with and many others.

Internship Opportunities:

There are a large variety of internships available and students interested in reviewing the entire list of opportunities can do so online. Those who are graduating and planning on going on to graduate school in the Fall, must supply a letter of acceptance if selected as a finalist to receive one of the internships.

Graduating seniors who are not going on to graduate school can apply to these internship positions only.

To Apply:

All students and new graduates must adhere to the application requirements set forth by the Academy or they will be disqualified from the pool of applicants. Applicants must include letters of recommendation and transcripts along with their application materials.
