Charlotte Milligan

Charlotte:

Charlotte is originally from Jackson, Michigan. Charlotte graduated from Grand Valley State University in April 2009 and received a B.A. in Advertising and Public Relations, and minor in Sociology. Charlotte's career aspiration is to make a difference in whatever she does and to find ways that she can give back to the community. Charlotte's experience at Amway has led her to take a job opportunity with another company. Charlotte says that she really believes that it is because of the projects and advice that she was given at Amway that has allowed her to take on this new position.

What was the best aspect of your Amway internship:

The best aspect of my internship with Amway were the opportunities to be involved in numerous projects and events. Last summer I was able to attend many of the National Spotlights, an expo that showcased Amway's Global Business Opportunity and its brands that exist throughout the country. Not only was I able to meet our Independent Business Owners, I was able to see the difference that the company makes in people’s lives.

What skills and knowledge did you bring to your internship:

The main skill that I brought to my internship was writing because it is significant in public relations. I also had experience in event planning, leadership roles, as well as developing public relations campaigns through course work. In addition, I was involved with Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).

Did your experience provide valuable experience applicable to the real world:

My mentors at Amway Global have prepared me for the real world because they allowed me to take initiative and be involved with tons of different projects from employee communications to social media.

What were the main responsibilities of your internship:

My main responsibilities consisted of assisting with research, writing and planning in support of multiple public relations initiatives, employee communications, product promotions for health and beauty brands as well as monitoring and reporting on web conversation about Amway Global and its brands.

What suggestions do you have for other students who are interested in Amway:

Students who are interested in applying for an position at Amway should try to network with people within the company. They can schedule informational interviews to get to know the staff in the department they are interested in and get an inside scoop on internship opportunities. I would also suggest that they check out Interns Expose Amway to get to know the company better and to be able to meet other interns.

Be sure to check out what Kevin, Manager of College Talent and Candidate Experience, and fellow intern Bethany have to say about Amway internships.
