If you are looking for a position in the Entertainment Industry, you may be interested in learning more about Production Resources Group. PRG is one of the world's largest providers of production equipment and services. They have offices in 40 locations around the world. Included in their portfolio are a wide range of high profile events. This includes worldwide concert tours, major TV shows, theatrical productions, and corporate events.
The U2 360 Tour, one of the largest concert events ever staged, was a PRG production. The massive four-legged supporting rig, nicknamed The Claw, was so large and took four days to set up that there were actually three complete rigs for the tour. These rigs leap frogged one another to make it to the next venue so the crew could set everything up before the band and the concert crowds arrived! This presented a major challenge in logistics, resources, and manpower which PRG and their partners were able to meet.
On Broadway, the production of Spiderman presented huge technical challenges as well. Spider-Man, Turn off the Darkness, is the most expensive Broadway production ever staged. The official opening was postponed several times due to "technical difficulties" and a variety of production problems. The show includes highly technical stunts and these technical obstacles caused several lengthy delays. In the end PRG was able to resolve these difficulties and went live with the play in November of 2010.
This desire to take on huge technical projects and come up with viable solutions makes PRG a dynamic and interesting place to pursue an internship or career.
