If you are an art major with an interest in using color and fabric to make a room or home more visually appealing, interior design may be the right career for you. Interior designers are required to not only use both science and art to beautify a space, they also are responsible for making the process run smoothly as for the clients that seek their services.
Interior designers work with both the assets and liabilities of a particular space when creating a design that will meet the expectations of a client. College students interested in pursuing a career in interior design should conduct several informational interviews with interior designers and gain experience by doing a job shadow or completing an internship. In addition to an interest in art, interior designers must also have a good business sense and an ability to see a project through from start to finish.
