The time it takes to create a professional resume and cover letter is well worth the effort.  Since the resume and cover letter are the documents that will help you land an interview, it is imperative that you create documents that portray your experiences in the most professional light.

Student resumes may be filled with coursework and co-curricular activities whereby in the professional resume you will want to document your skills and accomplishments using key words and phrases that will grap the attention of employers.

Researching companies and job descriptions will help you draft a resume that focuses on what an employer is seeking in a job candidate.  In addition to the skills and accomplishments that you demonstrate in your documents you will also want to show that you have experience in the field and that it's a career that you are seriously considering.
