Finding ways to de-stress from the hectic world of college life is a skill that every college student must learn to do. Once you find yourself unable to keep up with all of your coursework and academic and co-curricular commitments, managing them becomes even harder and ultimately they can begin to take toll on your health and personal relationships.
I just read an excellent article on suggestions on how college students can create more balance in their personal lives and avoid the inevitable crunch once mid-terms, assignment deadlines, and final exams come due.
Recommendations for creating balance in the life of a hectic college student:
- Eat healthy and get plenty of exercise.
- Take time to relax, take a walk, take a relaxing bubble bath, listen to some classical or new age music.
- Learn how to meditate to help find answers to your immediate problems and to provide some relief from the daily stresses that seem inevitable while attending college.
- Watch a funny show or movie on TV or on your computer.
- Curl up with a good book.
- Contact friends and family to discuss weekend plans and the things you'd like to do once winter break is finally here.
