Creating Your Own Website & Blog

null   I really liked the advice given to students in yesterdy's Huffington Post.  Basically it recommends that all college students should have their own website and blog.  Just imagine how powerful it can be to direct employers to your own professional website as long as you've taken the time it takes to make it look professional.

There are so many resources available to create a website that it no longer takes a computer geek to do one.  Your Career Services Office at your college may have resources that will help you create one quite quickly.

Creating a blog can be just as effective and fun.  With all of the free software available for creating  blogs such as WordPress, Blogger.com, and Blog.com, you can begin sharing your knowledge and passions by posting them online.  Be sure to check out other blogs prior to posting your own to help you get a better sense of how you want to portray yourself online.

Creating a professional website and blog can help you create your own brand and package those skills that you have that you believe are the most marketable.  I suggest you check out what's already out there and then jump in and give it a try.

A personal website and blog can go along way to introducing you to employers and letting them know what you have to offer.  You can even include your LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter profiles to direct visitors to your social networking sites to learn even more about you.
