INTERNSHIP OF THE WEEK
The New York Times

Last weekend approximately 100 About.com guides came together to attend a day of training at the New York Times Building on 8^th Avenue in New York City. Since The New York Times owns About.com, it was a very inspiring and educational session.

Upon entering the building I felt very excited as we came through the doors and traveled up to the 15^th floor to meet with guides from across the country. The meetings were further enhanced by having the CEO and President of both The New York Times and About.com present to speak to the group. In addition, I'd like to thank Evelyn Reid, About.com's Guide to Montreal, for taking and sharing her photo of the New York Times as we saw it when we first entered the building and passed by the front desk.

The New York Times Company is a leader in media and includes such well knowns as the The New York Times, the International Herald Tribune, The Boston Globe, amongst others as well as WQXR-FM, 50 + websites including NewYorkTimes.com and About.com.

With deadlines coming up the end of November, I decided to select The New York Times as the Internship of the Week. Interning at such a well renowned media company as The New York Times would be a definite feather in any student's cap. Since getting into any entry-level position in the field of journalism or communications requires previous experience in the field, landing an internship at a publication such as The New York Times is a major accomplishment for anyone interested in entering the industry immediately after college.
