The White House Internship Program

Tuesday November 4, 2008
On the White House internship website today it reads, “Welcome to the White House Intern website! Thank you for your interest in serving President George W. Bush. The White House Internship provides an opportunity to experience day-to-day life at the White House while working on a variety of tasks and projects.”

Since the application form and 2009 internship listings have not yet been posted for spring, summer, or fall of 2009, students interested in participating in the White House Internship Program will have to wait to learn the results of today’s election to find out whose administration they will serve under should they be selected as a White House intern.

No matter who wins the election, internships are available at 22 White House offices where interns perform normal office duties, attend weekly lectures, volunteer at special events, while participating with tours and contributing to community service projects in the Washington, D.C. area. These are unpaid internships and students are required to be of 18 years of age prior to the internship, enrolled in an undergraduate degree program (or graduated the previous semester), and a U.S. citizen. All interns must agree to a security investigation and a drug test prior to starting the internship with a total of approximately 100 interns serving at the White House each year.

So, it'll be interesting to see whose name will be inserted in the statement at the beginning of this blog. I have my preference, do you?
