Choosing a Major

Choosing a college major can be a scary and overwhelming process for many students. For the past few weeks many students have been coming to our office inquiring about what they can do with this or that major once they graduate from college. They often feel that they are the only ones who don't know what they want to do after college. The truth is that many students have no idea what they want to do once they graduate; and that is one of the beauties about doing an internship - the ability to get first - hand knowledge about potential career fields.

The truth is that you can do many different things with your major and you are not limited in the types of jobs you apply to just because you picked the wrong major. Your interests as well as your experiential education (job shadowing/externships, volunteer, internships, co-ops, etc.) can all have a major influence on your career. So, although you want to select a major of interest, you also want to make sure that you actively participate in getting some hands-on experience in your field(s) of interest.
